Keep It Simple Stupid – KISS

basket weaving

KISS is an acronym for “Keep it simple, stupid” as a design principle noted by the U.S. Navy in 1960. The KISS principle states that most systems work best if they are kept simple rather than made complicated…

Wow… So, I am not the only one that has noticed that people are drawn to simplicity. When people are coming to Samoa, they want to know all about how we make those beautiful coconut leaf baskets, hats, mats and much more.

People in Samoa use these things daily when going to the plantation to get their taro or bananas and they consider it to be the most normal thing ever.

Now the tourists come and think it’s extraordinary and they spend a whole week trying to learn how to make one.

The local people didn’t believe that their simple basket would be something special, so I decided to do all kind of local stuff for our resort guests on a daily basis. This became the real success of the resort.

Our modern life has become too complicated and people are longing to go back to simplicity…

We are not going on holiday to learn new computer software, we go on holiday to slow down and get back to the simple life that is screaming for our attention.

If you can’t go to Samoa and learn how to weave a basket, then just go out in nature and appreciate the simple beauty of being alive and a part of an extraordinary life on planet earth… It doesn’t need to be complicated.

Why not learn to live a more fulfilled life in all areas.
